Ultimate love

I can see you
Over there, with her
Shirley or sherry or chartreuse I don't know
But I see you
And that's enough
Because I lost your attention
And for that 35 seconds
Your eyes weren't glued to me
Isn't my body sexy enough?
Aren't my legs long enough?
Didn't we just kiss, don't you appreciate
These lips?
Is that not enough for you?
Sometimes I desire
To find a place for you and I
To go, all the time, not just when you're off work
Or bored
Or neglecting to be doing something more
Important than me, but there shouldn't be.
A place, a different world
Nobody else, just you and I
Then I could really possess you
And we could really become each other.
I am so far away
And the distance grows, stretches
The mist is turning into rain
And thunder and lightning
But I find storms exciting
I'll get struck a little
Yet that's how much I love you
Ultimate love, that do-or-die
That kind of love where you turn to the other person and whisper
"I'd kill myself for you."
And its a perfectly normal thing to say
At the dinner table
With the tv buzzing in the background
And your partner just nods as if
You said the most ordinary thing
In the entire universe
