Liberated

A snake coils
out of the earth
its tail,
a club
its body,
lithe and strong-
a muscle
rising against
it's enemies.
It cannot be stopped.
Its head
is like a vice
jaws snapping,
hungry
because it got the
feeling
and it wants more.
Its shifting eyes,
transfixed by
the shadows,
catches everything
even your white lies.
Springing backward
in slow-motion,
in one steady motion
in one honest motion
it strikes
and tastes the blood
of your weak
promises.
